Welcome

Welcome to the website for the new Centre for Excellence in Events.

The Centre for Excellence in Events is dedicated to improving the knowledge and expertise of individuals and companies in the planning and management of events through education and industry relationships. The C4EE promotes and cultivates high standards of best practices while acknowledging and rewarding those who demonstrate professionalism and innovation.

Celebrate Summer (and Excellence in Events!)
Emergent Events are the team behind the Street Performance World Championships. For the 4th year, in 2009, they have brought the most incredible street performers from all over the world to Ireland for a free festival of fascinating fun (don't ya love alliteration?). They brought over some of their very best acts to help us to celebrate Summer and Excellence in Events on July 14th in the Sugar Club. See what happened... click here.

The I'M 4 Campaign

Launched on the 7th of May, the purpose of the I'M 4 Campaign was to receive expressions of support for the Centre for Excellence in Events. We've been working behind the scenes for quite some time on preparing the groundwork for the organisation. Now, before we enter into serious financial commitment, we need to know that we will be representing the industry. The I'M 4 Campaign is where you got to tell us that you want to be represented, and that we're broadly on the right track. Click here to visit the I'M 4 Campaign page and show your support!

The Outlook for Events
The Outlook for Events took place on February 24th and it was a fascinating morning. We had frank and honest contributions from both speakers and attendees and plenty of networking. Huge thanks again to D4 Hotels (www.d4hotels.ie), Tom O'Connell and his team (www.oconnellsballsbridge.com) and Edwin Whelan and AVCOM (www.avcom.ie) for their support of the C4EE.

The Events Industry Skillnet
It is with huge regret that we note that Skillnets Ltd, the funding agency responsible for administering the Skillnets funding under the National Training Plan, have decided that no further funding will be available to the Events Industry Skillnet. This decision was made following the significant cuts to the funds being made available to Skillnets. All individual skillnets are facing reduced funding of some sort and a number of skillnets (including the Events Industry Skillnet) will receive no further funding.

Naturally, we are hugely disappointed that this resource has been cut. No matter how difficult it may have been for us to work with the funding agency, it was still an extremely valuable support to the industry at a time when that support is greatly needed. Time more than ever now for us to develop professional standards and certification ourselves ... View the draft membership proposals & documents...
